Rosemont Thirty for Thirty Launch for Zoustar's Best Son

Media Release - Sunday May 25

Rosemont Stud are thrilled to announce the brilliant, all-the-way winner of the $1M Gr.1 W.F.A William Reid Stakes, SCHWARZ has retired & will stand at their Gnarwarre base in 2025.

To celebrate the arrival of Champion Sire Elect, Zoustar’s Greatest son to Victoria, Rosemont are offering an exciting, discounted ‘launch fee’ for the first thirty breeders booked - whose mares will be accepted at $30,000 + GST (payment on live foal) against his advertised fee of $35,000 + GST.

Note: Schwarz will be parading on Monday 26th at the MM Complex (middle parade area, opposite Newhaven barn) from 3.45-4pm. All media welcome with John O’Shea available for any interviews.

Schwarz will stand for an advertised fee of $38,500.

“The Thirty for Thirty incentive is ultimately our way of reinforcing the Rosemont message of providing real, tangible value for willing breeders and not just ‘saying’ it.” outlined Rosemont Principal Anthony Mithen.

“Outside of shareholder entitlements, Schwarz won’t be asked to cover a huge amount of external mares. Strong breeder feedback has been to keep stallion numbers at respectable levels so with this in mind we certainly encourage breeders to be pro-active.”

“Additionally, we want to celebrate the pending arrival of such a magnificent prospect. Interestingly, looking back at breed-shapers Northern Meteor & Redoute’s Choice - two stallions who heavily influence the pedigree of Schwarz - both retired at $30,000 so this incentive is also a nod to their enduring legacies.” Added Mithen.

A winner of five stakes including the William Reid, Schwarz will retire as the only Australian Group One WFA Winning son of Champion sire Zoustar but also his most successful entire having won five-stakes races in total.

Additionally, Schwarz becomes the first ever horse to win a Gr1 WFA Australian sprint (5-6f) for an ownership that paid $1M+ for him as a yearling.

“We believe he’s not only Zoustar’s greatest, most successful son but also his best-looking and indeed best-bred stallion.” said Rosemont Bloodstock Manager, Ryan McEvoy.

“As a $1.25M Magic Millions purchase from a Group 2 Winning daughter of Not A Single Doubt who stems directly from the family of Redoute’s Choice he combines everything you would wish for in an elite stallion prospect; type, sire-line, pedigree, attitude & Group One winning speed”.

In his last five outings, Schwarz has added a Group One WFA win with two scintillating victories at Group Two WFA level – all over the 1200m.

A son of the all-conquering ZOUSTAR – the world’s leading sire of 2024 & reigning champion Australian sire of Gr.1 Winners, Stakes Winners & Winners – he took the eye of John O’Shea, Rosemont & agent Suman Hedge who purchased the colt at the 2022 Magic Millions for $1.25M as part of the Rosemont Alliance syndicate.

Schwarz was a $1.25million Magic Millions yearling.

“I haven’t trained a better looking, more imposing colt than him nor, many faster.” Stated trainer John O’Shea.

He’s the highest-rated yearling I have seen in years. It is scary how rare it is to for a colt to fetch $1M+ at the sales & achieve Gr1 W.F.A success.

He not only had the right attitude for a colt to train on at four, he had the ability to stretch his speed to stakes victories at 1400m and he won at the three toughest courses we have in Australia; Randwick, Flemington & The Valley.

He’s a slam dunk prospect.”

A small, select number of shares will be made available in Schwarz with breeders encouraged to contact Rosemont to register an interest.
