Headed back to Australia this spring for Darley, Pinatubo (IRE) posted a new stakes-winner in France overnight where his three year-old colt Croquis won the Listed Toulouse Derby du Languedoc (2400m).
Trained by Christophe Ferland and ridden by Maxime Guyon, Croquis hit the line hard to catch the leader and win by a short neck and has now won two of four starts.
Bred by Dayton Investments and raced by Wertheimer & Frere, Croquis is the first winner for well bred Galileo mare Miss Lara, a daughter of Group I Newmarket Thousand Guineas winner Miss France.
Croquis is the third stakes-winner for Pinatubo, the Champion European 2YO Colt of 2019.
The son of Shamardal is back in Australia at a fee of $38,500 and his first Australian bred yearlings sold this year for up to $700,000.
