Tenth Winner for Farnan

Kia Ora Stud’s Golden Slipper winner Farnan added a new winner to his tally on Sunday with a debut victory at the Sunshine Coast for Bourbon County.

Trained by Lee Freedman and ridden by Michael Rodd, Bourbon County was sent off favourite for the 1000m maiden and had to dig deep to post a half length win over Anders gelding Varejao with a big margin back to the third horse.

Bourbon County was a $50,000 Magic Millions Adelaide purchase from the draft of Bhima Thoroughbreds for Tallan Pty Limited.

He is the first winner for winning Unencumbered mare Accoy, a daughter of Group II winner Infinite Grace from the family of dual Cox Plate hero Fields of Omagh, Group I winner The Mitigator and Group winners Fontein Ruby and Parure.

Bourbon County is the tenth winner for Farnan, who has sired three Group winners in King of Pop, North England and Recuperato.

Farnan is priced this spring at $77,000.
