Valuable Black Type Win for Floozie

Tara Madgwick - Saturday May 10

Bred and raced initially by Dorrington Farm’s Robert Crabtree, Floozie changed hands last year and runs now for Yarraman Park, who sent her to Queensland to be trained by Tony Gollan and she landed a valuable Black Type win at the Gold Coast on Saturday when taking out the Listed Silk Stocking (1400m).

By champion sire Zoustar from Crabtree’s Group I MRC Blue Diamond winning mare Catchy, Floozie was a two time winner in Victoria before heading north and has risen a new level since switching to Brisbane.

She won her first two starts for the Gollan stable at Eagle Farm and made it three wins on the trot when giving her all for Angela Jones to win by a neck in a thrilling finish.

“Ange Jones has got a great knack of getting her horses to begin well and move them into a great spot. We saw it yesterday at Gatton, we've seen it here so far today and we see it week in, week out,” said Tony Gollan.

“She's riding brilliantly, and the mare was rock hard fit on the seven-day back-up. It's great for James Mitchell and all the team to send us a mare like that, and I'd say she'll be very valuable now that she's got some black type on her page.

"She gives me a Comrade Rosa feel. She's going through the grades very nicely, and I've been very confident that we could get her to stakes grade at some point. There's still improvement there with her, we hope to get her into the Tatts Tiara (G1) but there's a bit of water to go under the bridge between now and then."

Floozie has the overall record of five wins and four placings from 13 starts with prizemoney just shy of $300,000 with that stakes win enhancing her value as a broodmare for the future.

She is the best of two winners from Catchy, who was sold at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale on Thursday for $800,000 to Glenvale Stud and is in foal to Capitalist.

Zoustar is the sire of Floozie.

Floozie is the 66th stakes-winner for champion sire Zoustar and is his eighth from a daughter of Fastnet Rock with that nick producing 13.5% SW to runner.
