Flying High

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday April 30

When a young stallion makes a fast start with a flurry of early season spring two year-olds his second crop of yearlings can reap the benefit very quickly in the sale ring the following year.

Acrobat might be the least expensive sire on the Coolmore roster, but things are starting to get interesting for him right about now.

For a stallion off a service fee of $13,750, Acrobat had some very encouraging results at the yearling sales this year with eight of his yearlings selling for $100,000 or more and as we have seen with bargain priced sires in the past, that has the potential to really put the spotlight on the crop that follows.

Fairhhill Farm have been on the Acrobat bandwagon with a good representation of his stock in their bumper consignment for the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale on May 5 and 6.

“He’s a horse that has a lot to offer at the fee and we were impressed with how he was received at the sales this year,” said Mike O’Donnell, who has backed his judgement.

“We have another 10 mares in foal to him!”

Below are all the Acrobat weanlings to be offered by Fairhill Farm:

Lot 65 Filly Acrobat x Queen’s Carriage (IRE), by Mehmas

Second foal of a three time winning daughter of leading young European sire Mehmas from the family of Group I winning 2YO Filly Rosdhu Queen.
