Makarena Added to Inglis Chairman's Supplementary

Media Release - Tuesday April 29

Supplementary entries for the Chairman’s Sale, Australian Weanling Sale and Australian Broodmare Sale are now finalised and online.

The late additions are headlined by the G1-winning superstar Amelia’s Jewel, one of eight supplementaries for Chairman’s, taking the sale’s catalogue to 96 lots.

Amelia’s Jewel is joined by several quality additions including the G2-winning mare Makarena (Snitzel) and a share in one of Australasia’s most exciting young stallions, Alabama Express.

Inglis Easter Yearling Sale graduate Makarena (pictured) enters the sale as a highly appealing prospect.

She broke her maiden at her second start as a spring 3YO defeating subsequent Stakes winners Kaizad and Ostraka before developing into one of the best fillies of her generation.

Her 3YO season culminated with a fourth-placed finish in the G1 Queen Of The Turf, beaten little more than a length by Zougotcha, Atishu and Semana, with the likes of Ruthless Dame, Olentia, Tropical Squall and Campionessa in arrears.

This season, Makarena won the G2 Golden Pendant Stakes over 1400m at Rosehill in the spring, defeating six individual Stakes winners including G1 winners Amelia’s Jewel and Tropical Squall.

She was also the first mare home in the $10m Golden Eagle over 1500m at Rosehill, running 4th beaten only 1.3 lengths by Lake Forest, Lazzat and Tom Kitten, with nine individual G1 winners in arrears including Stefi Magnetica, Joliestar, Southport Tycoon, Skybird, Acoli Piceno, Veight etc.

The share in Alabama Express is another hugely appealing offering.

The Yulong-based son of Redoute’s Choice was a G1 winner of the CF Orr Stakes at WFA as a 3YO and has made a sensational start to his new career.

His first crop, currently 3YOs, includes exceptional triple G1-winning filly Treasurethe Moment, star sprinter Alabama Lass and a further eight black type horses from just 70 runners.

In 2025, he will stand for an advertised fee of $66,000 (incl. GST).

In a further boost for buyers, Stallion Match have provided a pedigree analysis along with hypothetical stallion matches for each lot in the Chairman’s Sale, which is available on the Inglis website.

“We’re absolutely thrilled with how the Chairman’s catalogue has come together and the addition of these eight high quality supplementary entries really takes the catalogue to a new level again,’’ Inglis Bloodstock Sales Manager Harry Bailey said.

“Chairman’s this year is without peer the strongest breeding stock sale anywhere in the Southern Hemisphere with many exquisite offerings but aside from that, it’s a really fun night, we have some great entertainment planned for the evening and it’s going to be a memorable occasion as we celebrate the careers of some of the best race fillies and mares Australia has seen in recent years.’’

The Chairman’s Sale, the catalogue for which includes 70 mares which are either Stakes performers or producers, will be held at Riverside Stables from 5pm on Thursday May 8.
