Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday April 29

A busy set of trials at Warwick Farm on Tuesday morning featured seven heats for juveniles and winners included a couple of unraced siblings to Group winners and a youngster in the Darby colours by Peltzer, who sired his first winner last week.

Bjorn Baker and Darby Racing are a formidable combination and Peltzer gelding Demi God did everything right in his first trial sitting outside the leader and kicking on to win by a head for Ash Morgan. Also keep an eye on Wootton Bassett (GB) colt Regulated Affair, who was well held throughout in a tick over trial following his debut second at Randwick in March and this Chris Waller trained colt is in the market for the Group I BRC JJ Atkins.

A $65,000 Inglis HTBA Yearling purchase for Darby from Twin Hills Stud, Demi God has quite a pedigree as a half-brother to Group III placed Plutocracy from Demetria, who is a half-sister to dual Group I winner Samaready, the dam of Golden Slipper winner Shinzo.

Demetria has had four to race all winners and Demi God might just keep her record perfect.

The quickest heat winner was another from the Bjorn Baker stable in Shalaa (IRE) filly Swordplay, who showed brilliant gate speed at her first trial for Rachel King to lead easily before dashing away to win by two and a half lengths.

A $150,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Arrowfield Stud for Satomi Oka Bloodstock (FBAA)/Omen Bloodstock, Swordplay is bred to go quick as a full sister to multiple Group III winning and $1million earning sprinter Recommendation.

Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou sent out Trapeze Artist filly Latteragh for her first ever trial and she did a good job to find the line well and win by a length for Tom Sherry.

A bargain buy at just $20,000 from the Coolmore draft at Inglis Classic, Latteragh is a three-quarter sister to Group I winning Hong Kong based sprinter Invincible Sage, who was fourth to Ka Ying Rising in the G1 Champion’s Sprint on Sunday.

Additional winners were: Don Ottavio (Castelvecchio), Firepop (Shalaa (IRE), Marinera (Exceed and Excel) and Point Score (Blue Point (IRE).
