One to Watch – Ballarat

Tara Madgwick - Sunday April 27

Fillies by The Autumn Sun have really proven their worth at a high level and Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman produced a debut two year-old winner by him at Ballarat on Sunday that really caught the eye.

Vivid Sun was a short priced favourite for the 1200m maiden and required little more than a shake up from Blake Shinn to kick away and win by a couple of lengths in a dominant display.

Vivid Sun was a $200,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Arrowfield for Dalziel Racing / Moody Racing and looks a bright prospect for the future with her pedigree suggesting Oaks potential next season.

Vivid Sun was a $200,000 Inglis Easter purchase.

She is the fourth winner from four to race from winning Zenno Rob Roy mare Rainbow Song (Jpn), a sibling to Japanese Group I winner Rainbow Line and Group II winner Animate Bio.

It’s always a good indication if the same purchasers come back to buy the next foal from the mare and that happened at Inglis Easter this year when Dalziel Bloodstock / Moody Racing paid $300,000 for the full sister to Vivid Sun.

Rainbow Song had no foal last year after missing to The Autumn Sun and is now in foal to Castelvecchio.
