Prized Icon Returns to Gooree Park Stud

Media Release - Thursday April 24

Gooree Park Stud is proud to announce the return of homebred Group 1-winning stallion Prized Icon, who will stand in Mudgee for the 2025 breeding season.

Prized Icon is returning home to Gooree Stud to stand this spring.

After a period at Kooringal Stud, the dual Group 1 winner is back where he was bred, raised, and raced - a moment of great pride and sentiment for the entire Gooree team.

Prized Icon showed early brilliance as a 2-year-old, placing in the Breeders’ Plate behind eventual Golden Slipper winner Capitalist, before going on to claim the Group 1 Champagne Stakes and later the time-honoured Victoria Derby at three. He also placed in four additional Group 1 races, including a runner-up finish to superstar mare Winx in the Chipping Norton Stakes.

By the legendary sire More Than Ready, Prized Icon offers both pedigree and performance. His standout daughter Tropical Squall, who also carried Gooree’s iconic red and black silks, won the Group 1 Flight Stakes and Surround Stakes before recently being acquired by Yulong Stud for their elite broodmare band.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Prized Icon home,” said Managing Director Mrs Jeanette Tioseco. “To see him return to where it all began, as a Group 1-winning homebred in our iconic silks, is something very special. He was a favourite of The Boss, the late Mr. Eduardo Cojuangco, and remains one of our proudest achievements. His return continues our mission of honouring Gooree’s legacy while looking confidently toward the future.”

Prized Icon will stand for $5,500 (incl. GST) for the 2025 breeding season - exceptional value for breeders seeking proven class, toughness, and versatility.
