Widden Stud’s much missed sire Sebring has given the Ingham family their superstar $10million earning mare Fangirl and it was another of the Widden sires that had the famed cerise colours in the winner’s circle at Newcastle on Wednesday.
Trained by Chris Waller and ridden by Jason Collett, three year-old filly Mignonette was resuming from a spell following an unplaced debut run last year.
She has obviously come back a better filly and made light work of the heavy ground to win the 1250m maiden by more than a length at her second start.
Grey in colour like her mum Catkins, Mignonette was foaled and raised at Coolmore and is the third winner from four foals to race for her dam, who was a top class mare scoring multiple Group wins and $2million in prizemoney with a frustrating five individual G1 placings.
By world champion sire Dubawi, Catkins has more to come in the pipeline with an unraced two year-old So You Think filly called Nandina and a she had a filly by Churchill (IRE) last spring before visiting Tassort.
