$2.7million Mare Produces $3million Colt

Tara Madgwick - Sunday April 6

The Inglis Chairman's Sale is fast approaching featuring a bevy of scintillating young race mares and the top lot at that sale in 2022 was Shout the Bar and she provided the top lot on the first day of the 2025 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale on Sunday.

The first crop of yearlings by Home Affairs have been lighting up sale rings in Australia this year and that was the case at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale on Sunday when the top lot of the session was a fabulous colt from dual Group I winner Shout the Bar.

Coolmore celebrate their $3million Home Affairs colt from Shout the Bar!

A dual Group I winner of the VRC Empire Rose Stakes and Vinery Stud Stakes, Shout the Bar was purchased by Tom Magnier for $2.7million at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale in 2022 and has not taken long to repay her purchase price.

Her first foal is this stunning colt that impressed everyone at Riverside Stables this week and sold for $3million to Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott / Kestrel Thoroughbreds.

“It’s a sale where you've got to be strong on the horses that you select, and we have been very selective at this sale,” said Adrian Bott.

“He stood out from the very early stages obviously and we knew the dam Shout The Bar well as we trained her. She was an immense talent, an incredibly tough horse had a great constitution with a mindset for racing, so he looked very much in in that mold and carried all those good qualities.

“We’re still piecing together the ownership group and hopefully that comes together relatively quickly after this sale.”

By champion sire Not a Single Doubt from a quality Kiwi Black Type family featuring dual Group I winner Rangirangdoo, Shout the Bar was sent to Kentucky last year to be covered by Justify (USA) and has returned home in foal.

It was the second time a yearling by Home Affairs has sold for $3million or more with Coolmore selling a filly from champion filly Sunlight at Magic Millions this year for $3.2million to Japanese purchaser Mitsu Nakauchida and that filly has already left the country.
