Zoustar Filly Wins G3 PJ Bell

Tara Madgwick - Saturday April 5

A full sister to Group I winner Mizzy, Dorrington Farm’s homebred filly She’s Got Pizzazz was a stakes-winner in Melbourne last spring and added further to her considerable worth when dropping from the clouds to win the Group III ATC PJ Bell Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday.

Trained by Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman and ridden by Blake Shinn, She’s Got Pizzazz rattled home from back in the field with a well timed run to score a head win in a thriller.

“She's got a wonderful family. Bred and retained by Rob Crabtree and it's a family that he's developed for a lot of years,” said Peter Moody.

“This was a little target race for us. We thought she was unlucky at Caulfield the other day so it was well-deserved, I think.

"You might see her back here in a couple of weeks in the G3 JB Carr (1400m). Crabby (Rob Crabtree) has got a big goal to win that.

“I'd love to see her in Brisbane for a Stradbroke (G1). So if she's here in two weeks you'll know the owner has won the battle. If you don't see her in two weeks you know she'll probably run in something like the Fred Best on the way to a Stradbroke in about seven weeks. "

She’s Got Pizzazz was retained to race by Robert Crabtree’s Dorrington Fam and has now won three races and placed four times from nine starts earning over $360,000 in prizemoney.

She’s Got Pizzazz is a full sister to $1.8million earning Group I ATC Canterbury Stakes winner Mizzy, who was bought by Tom Magnier for $2.2million at the 2021 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

She is the second stakes-winner among three winners from stakes-winning Magnus mare Missy Cummings, a daughter of stakes-winner Lady Knockout and half-sister to the dam of stakes-winner Laced Up Heels.

Missy Cummings has a yearling colt by So You Think that has been named Piazza, but no foal last spring after missing in 2023 and she is now in foal to Zoustar’s Group I winning son Ozzmosis.
