Triple G1 Winner Zougotcha Confirmed for MM National

Media Release - Wednesday April 2

Outstanding racemare Zougotcha will provide prospective buyers with a rare opportunity when she goes under the hammer at May's Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast.

An impeccably bred daughter of Zoustar, Zougotcha blazed a trail across Australian racetracks, amassing eight wins from just 18 starts — including three at the elite Group 1 level.

Right from the outset, Zougotcha signalled she was something special, winning her two-year-old debut in Sydney by a dominant three lengths.

Her three-year-old season began in style with victory over In Secret and others in the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes — a performance that hinted at even greater things to come. She followed up by defeating Madame Pommery in the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes before delivering a commanding win over She’s Extreme in the Group 1 Flight Stakes just two weeks later.

Following a short spell over the late spring and summer, Zougotcha returned with a gallant fourth — narrowly beaten — in the Group 1 Surround Stakes behind Sunshine in Paris.

She bounced back immediately, cruising home in the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes to confirm her status among the best of her generation.

Her 2024 Autumn campaign was nothing short of flawless. The outstanding Zoustar mare went three-from-three at Group level to claim the Princess Series for an adoring ownership group.

A first-up victory in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes over Lady Laguna set the tone, but she went even better with a brilliant win in the prestigious Group 1 Coolmore Classic, followed by a thrilling triumph over Atishu in the Group 1 Queen of the Turf Stakes.

While her trio of Group 1 victories — alongside a swag of other stakes wins — stand as obvious highlights, one of Zougotcha’s most memorable performances may have come in defeat.

In the 2023 Group 1 Winx Stakes, she was narrowly denied victory in a photo finish, splitting weight-for-age stars Via Sistina and Fangirl over 1400 metres — a world-class performance that underlined her place among the top-rated mares on the planet.

As well as her impeccable race record, Zougotcha's broodmare appeal is strengthened thanks to her first class pedigree.

Zougotcha is out of the stakes-performed daughter of Fastnet Rock, Fast Talker who is out of a stakes-winning half-sister to Golden Slipper winner Crystal Lily, aligning Zougotcha amongst one of Australia’s most precocious families. She is also a full sister to Melbourne stakes winner Persuader and a half-sister to Brisbane juvenile stakes winner The Actuary.

"We thank the connections of Zougotcha for entrusting Magic Millions to offer their superstar to a global audience," Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said.

"A triple Group 1 winner and eight time winner from just 18 starts, Zougotcha danced every dance and raced against the finest of her generation."

"What truly set Zougotcha apart was her consistent performance at the highest level. Of her 18 career starts, 12 came in either Group 1 or Group 2 company — an elite arena where she triumphed on seven occasions against the best in the country. It's a record that places her in rarefied air; few mares of her generation can match such sustained success at the top of the sport."

"Her race record, impeccable pedigree and good looks make Zougotcha one of the finest prospects to go to market anywhere in the world in 2025," Bowditch added.

Entries for the 2025 Magic Millions National Sale, across all sections of the sale, are now closing and anyone with enquiries should speak to a member of the Magic Millions Bloodstock Department.
