Anders Filly Wins $125,000 Pat O’Shea Plate

Tara Madgwick - Friday March 28

The $125,000 Pat O’Shea Plate (1200m) was run at Toowoomba on Friday in testing ground and Anders filly Casino Bay did best in the gloomy conditions to post her first win at just her second start.

Trained by Mark Currie and ridden by Kyle Wilson-Taylor, Casino Bay was second at the same track at the start of the month and took improvement from that outing. She set the pace in front and was strong to the line to win by a length over Zousain filly Sweet Pretender.

A $30,000 Magic Millions Book purchase for her trainer from the Raheen Stud draft, Casino Bay runs for a syndicate of stable clients and has banked nearly $200,000 from her first two starts.

Bred by Raheen Stud, she is the third winner from four foals to race from Group III placed Casino Prince mare Sino Eagle, who was covered last spring by Raheen Stud’s young Dark Angel stallion Top Ranked (IRE).

Anders

Casino Bay is the fourth winner for Anders, who also had a second place-getter at Muswellbrook on Friday with Shenandoah River a late closing second in the $30,000 Starmaker Plate.
