Laurel Glen Star Yearlings for Capricornia Yearling Sale

Media Release - Tuesday March 27
Fresh from success at the recent Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale where they sold a Kuroshio colt for $45,000, Laurel Glen Equestrian Centre will present another quality draft of seven for the 2018 Capricornia Yearling Sale at Rockhampton on April 8.

Central Queensland breeders Kerrod and Glenda Smyth are great supporters of the Capricornia Yearling Sale, which goes from strength to strength.

Underpinning the sale's success is undoubtedly the attraction of the exclusive sale races series with buyers now having three opportunities to race exclusively for decent prizemoney. The 2YO Race carries prizemoney of $100,000 and there is now two 3 and 4YO (combined) Races worth $50,000 each for graduates to compete in.

These races carry QTIS bonuses for eligible horses and as an added incentive this year, offered by Racing Queensland, these bonuses will double for the 2 and 3YO winners of these races. A winning filly could pocket an additional $25,500 bringing the total winner's purse to $89,500, whilst colts will receive a $17,000 bonus, $81,000 in total to the winner.

"We offer acclimatized yearlings from metropolitan stakes performed dams by known sire sources that produce up and running two year-olds," said Kerrod Smyth.

"Yearlings at Laurel Glen are raised while running in paddocks as free play builds strong hearts, relative growth, hard bones and hoof plus muscle receptive to training."

The Laurel Glen draft is as follows:

Lot 3 Colt Rothesay x A Sweetee, by Sequalo

Half-brother to a four time winner from a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Group III winner Showbiz Kid, winner of over $500,000 in prizemoney. The current two year-old from the mare, Falvelino, was beaten a length on debut at the Gold Coast for the Tony Sears stable.
