Anders Filly Wins for John Singleton

Tara Madgwick - Sunday March 23

First season sire Anders put a third winner on the board at Morphettville on Saturday and Frothy Macaw is an interesting filly that carries the colours of John Singleton’s Strawberry Hill Stud.

Trained by Matthew Seyers and ridden by Jacob Opperman, Forthy Macaw was having her second run following a debut fifth in the Magic Millions Adelaide 2YO Classic.

She improved out of that run to hit the line hard and win the 1000m juvenile dash by half a length.

Frothy Macaw was a $100,000 Magic Millions Adelaide purchase from Glenn Lee Thoroughbreds for John Singleton and she comes from a family he knows well.

Frothy Macaw was a $100,000 MM ADelaide purchase.

She is the third winner from Bucasia, a placed half-sister by Mossman to Group III VRC Vanity Stakes winner Tallow, who was purchased as a yearling by Singleton and ran in his colours before she retired to Strawberry Hill Stud. Tallow was on-sold in 2017 when in foal to Not a Single Doubt for $250,000 and the resulting foal from that mating was Golden Slipper winner Farnan.

Tallow is still going strong and had a filly by Zoustar last spring before visiting Golden Slipper winner Shinzo.

Bucasia has not had a foal since Frothy Macaw, but last spring went back to Anders at Widden Stud.
