Winning Debut for Ozzmosis Brother

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday March 19

Darby Racing had plenty of fun with high class Zoustar colt Ozzmosis and their colours were carried to victory at the metro meeting at Wyong on Wednesday by his three year-old brother Olufsen.

Trained by Bjorn Baker as was Ozzmosis, Olufsen has been given plenty of time and went to the races as a gelding first up with a couple of quiet recent trials offering no real clue as to what to expect.

Allowed to find his feet early by Jason Collett, Olufsen let down with a good finish to win the 1100m maiden by half a length over the short priced favourite Now is the Hour.

“It was good see him do that as he’s had patient owners as he's taken a little bit longer,” said stable representative Luke Hilton.

“He's a full brother to Ozzmosis, so he's an exciting bred  horse who they dived into after Ozzmosis' success.

“It took a little bit longer to get him going than we'd hoped, but he’s put a good performance together today and I think he's got a lot of upside to come.

“He just hit a flat spot on the corner and then he picked it up and was always going to be hard to beat when he got to the outside. He’s been really strong late in his trials, and Jason (Collett) was confident whatever he did today he'd improve on, but he got the job done, so he's exciting.”

Olufsen (pictured) passed in as a yearling and has a full brother for Inglis Easter.

Bred by China Horse Club and offered in their draft consigned by The Chase at Magic Millions, Olufsen was passed in shy of his $250,000 reserve before finding his way into Darby ownership with China Horse Club also retaining a share.

He is a full brother to Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Ozzmosis, who covered his first book of 192 mares at Newgate last spring at a fee of $44,000.

Olufsen is the third winner from three foals to race from Group III winning Darci Brahma mare No More Tears, who has a yearling colt by Zoustar that will be offered by The Chase as Lot 86 at Inglis Easter.

No More Tears went back to Zoustar again last spring after missing the previous year.
