Wyndspelle Filly to Target G1 NZ Oaks

Media Release - Wednesday March 19

Wyndsong, a promising 3yo filly trained by Forsman Racing, delivered a strong performance after her race win for an impressive fourth-place finish in the Group 3 Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Sunline Vase. It became clear from that run that she would benefit from more ground, and she is now being targeted for the prestigious Group 1 New Zealand Oaks on March 22nd.

A $15,000 weanling purchase from the 2022 New Bloodstock NATIONAL Weanling Sale by Phil Cataldo Bloodstock on behalf of JCRacing.fun, Wyndsong was bred by Pencarrow Stud and was sold in the Little Avondale Stud draft on behalf of Mr. Jim Barlow.

‘WYNDSONG’ was the first weanling by Multiple  G1 Sire Wyndspelle to be sold at auction, and according to Jen Campin, it was an easy decision:  “After some homework and so long as he legs were on straight -  I just had to buy her."

Recognizing an exciting opportunity, a 'lease syndicate' was formed with a mix of loyal clients and fresh investors in JCRacing.fun. The goal was clear – to be the first to race a daughter of the tough and highly credentialed multiple Group 1 performer, Wyndspelle who was also a yearling purchase by Jen Campin. Then trained by Johno Benner and Hollie Wynyard , Wyndspelle went on to G1 winning status.

3yo Wyndsong has always stood out as a big-boned, impressive filly, and while patience was required for her to fully mature, she has now developed into a lovely, strong individual with an outstanding temperament. Her relaxed attitude on race day and her determination in every run make her a pleasure to have in the stable. (Andrew Forsman) No matter the circumstances, she always gives her all.

This upcoming New Zealand Oaks bid is a fabulous result for everyone involved, as Wyndsong will be the first from Wyndspelle’s inaugural crop to contest a Group 1 race.

Despite his early crops being small, Wyndspelle is making his mark, now standing at Wyndholm Park Stud in Victoria (Dr Kim McKellar) after his initial seasons with Grangewilliam Stud (NZ).

His progeny that have raced or trialed to date, have proven to be as tough and tenacious as their sire. From 11 horses to trial or race, 8 have either won or placed, an impressive 72.72% strike rate.

Wyndspelle’s early results indicate that he is producing quality colts and fillies alike, further cementing his potential as a commercial stallion.

With Wyndsong’s upcoming Group 1 debut, all eyes will be on her as she looks to continue the Wyndspelle legacy on racing’s biggest stages.

As for the JCRacing,FUN syndicate they are travelling from all over New Zealand to attend the day and cheer there filly home - Look out for all the pink :)  it will be fabulous turn out at the Wellington Racing Club,
