Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

Tara Madgwick - Thursday March 6

There were four heats for two year-olds at Rosehill on Thursday morning with some interesting winners including an unraced colt by Wootton Bassett (GB) and we had first looks at a pair of regally bred I Am Invincible youngsters that sold for $3million and $1million.

Quickest heat was won by the Bjorn Baker trained Russian Revolution filly Lavender Rose, who was having her second trial this prep and did everything right for Rachel King, showing speed from the gates before taking a sit and then working to the line to win by a length and a quarter over interesting I Am Invincible colt Federalist. Trained by Team Hawkes, he is the first foal of outstanding Pierro mare Arcadia Queen and got more than a pass mark for his first outing which is good news for Arrowfield Stud as they will offer his full brother at Inglis Easter as Lot 282.

A $300,000 MM purchase for her trainer from Kingstar Farm, Lavender Rose is the first living foal of Flaming Rose, an unraced half-sister by Pierro to Group II winner Tangled and stakes-winners Sebrese and Maules creek from Group I NZ Oaks winner Bramble Rose.

Darby Racing and Bjorn Baker love their bargain fillies and Outback Ally fits the profile. The daughter of Pariah was having her fourth trial and was very professional leading all the way to win, while $3million I Am Invincible filly Erneaux was given a typical Chris Waller quiet trial at her first outing and was doing her best work late for James McDonald to finish a close third.

Outcast Ally is a dirt cheap filly for her pedigree, plucked for $16,000 from the Twin Hills draft at the Inglis HTBA and is by Pariah from Group II ATC Sweet Embrace Stakes winner Always Allison, a grand-daughter of Group III winner Mannington, whose dam is Golden Slipper winner Bint Marscay.

$3million filly Erneaux is the second foal of Group I winner Booker, whose first foal is metro maiden winner Railway Man (3c I Am Invincible - $2.5million) and her third foal is a Home Affairs yearling colt that made $300,000 at Magic Millions when bought by David Ellis (BAFNZ)/Te Akau Racing.

Chris Waller and James McDonald combined to win a heat with unraced Wootton Basset (GB) colt Regulated Affair, who was having his first trial and found the line well between runners to score a narrow win.

A $200,000 Inglis Premier purchase, Regulated Affair is the first foal of Sei Stella, a metro winning three-quarter sister-in-blood to Group III winner Doubtlful Jack and full sister to stakes-winner Single Style, the dam of stakes-winner Miss Hipstar.

Additional winner was: Three Arrows (NZ) (Hello Youmzain (Fr),
