Five Straight for So You Think Up and Comer Revelare

Tara Madgwick - Saturday March 1

So You Think gelding Revelare has been the find of the summer down in Melbourne and racked up his fifth straight win at Flemington on Saturday when stepping up in class to take out a Benchmark 84 event over 2000m.

Trained by Robert Hickmott and ridden by Ryan Hurdle, Revelare was sent out favourite again and lugged 59.5kg to a comfortable three-quarter length win.

Revelare broke his maiden at his second start on the synthetic track at Ballarat in July last year  before spelling and has been unstoppable over the summer racing six times since December 19 for a first up second and then five wins over rising distances and increases in grade.

“He loafed a lot there today and it’s not grand final time, but when that time does come we have the blinkers up our sleeve, which I think will really aid the horse,” said Robert Hickmott.

The Listed VRC Roy Higgins Quality (2600m) at the end of March is a qualifying race for the Melbourne Cup and Hickmott is looking towards that race for Revelare, although is yet to decide on a suitable lead up with four weeks until then.

“We might have a look at the Australian Cup Prelude next week or there’s a 2400 handicap at Caulfield the week after, we’ll just see how he pulls up and he’ll tell us,” Hickmott added.

Revelare was a $130,000 Inglis Premier purchase for his trainer from the Daisy Hill draft and has already banked nearly $280,000 in prizemoney with six wins and a second from eight starts.

Revelare was a $130,000 Inglis Premier purchase.

He is certainly bred for long distances being the best of three winners from Reveal the Goddess, a 2400m winning Zabeel mare that is a sister to stakes-placed Sheezababe from Group I AJC Sydney Cup winner Honor Babe.
