Third Winner for King’s Legacy

Tara Madgwick - Saturday February 8

Exciting young sire King’s Legacy has two runners later in the day in the  $2million Inglis Millennium and he kicked off Saturday in a winning vein when his two year-old filly Steel Trap scored a dominant win at Morphettville.

Trained by the Clarken / Macgillivray training partnership and ridden by Jacob Opperman, Steel Trap ended the winning run of previously unbeaten filly La Roux when powering clear to win the 1050m dash by more than three lengths.

Fourth on debut at Murray Bridge back in October, Steel Trap has made plenty of improvement during her summer break and looks a filly  to follow.

“We expected her to do what she’s just done at her first start,” said Oopy Macgillivray.

“There was a bit of confusion, so she went to the paddock. She’s bigger and stronger now.”

Steel Trap was a $30,000 Magic Millions Adelaide purchase.

A $30,000 Magic Millions Adelaide purchase for Angas River Contractors Pty Ltd from the Phoenix Broodmare Farm draft, Steel Trap is the first foal of Lochita, a winning Lonhro grand-daughter of dual Group I winner Arborea.

Lochita produced another colt foal by King’s Legacy last spring.

Steel Trap is the third winner for King’s Legacy and all of them are metropolitan winners!
