Capitalist 2YO Salutes at Canberra - Half-Brother Inglis Premier

Tara Madgwick - Friday February 7

Trained by Annabel Neasham and Rob Archibald, two year-old Capitalist colt Steel Knight was a hot favourite in the juvenile event at Canberra on Friday and duly got the cash beating the Godolphin blueblood Too Darn Hot (GB) colt Barbarossa from four time Group I winner Guelph.

Steel Knight was having his second start after finishing unplaced on the very heavy track at the Gold Coast in the Magic Millions Debut with the races subsequently cancelled on that day.

Returned to Sydney and dispatched to Canberra, Steel Knight appreciated better conditions in the 1000m dash to win by more than a length.

A $250,000 Magic Millions purchase from the draft of Willow Park Stud for  Annabel Neasham Racing Pty Ltd/William Johnson Bloodstock, Steel Knight runs for a big group of stable clients and is the first foal of well bred Snitzel mare Sybella, a winning half-sister to stakes-winners Tawteen and Well Sprung from imported US Group III winner Sprung (USA).

Steel Knight was a $250,000 Magic millions yearling.

The second foal of Sybella is a colt by Home Affairs that will be offered in the Newgate Farm draft at Inglis Premiers as Lot 515.

Sybella had no foal last year, but appears to be in foal to Extreme Choice.

Steel Knight is the fifth two year-old winner this season for Capitalist and they are headed by his New Zealand based stakes-winner To Cap It All, while he also has a candidate for the tag of ‘best maiden in the country’ in Memo, who has yet to miss a place in four starts most recently finishing  a brave second in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Capitalist has 24 entries for Inglis Classic.
