Tara Madgwick - Monday February 3

As we move into February and the autumn carnivals start to kick off the race to be Champion Australian Sire by earnings will heat up and on the front of individual winners we have a dead heat at the top with five stallions now in the century club after Spirit of Boom hit his ton at Sandown on Saturday.

Trained by Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman, four year-old Spirit of Boom mare Mighty scored her first win this season when saluting at Sandown to end a frustrating run of placings.

Spirit of Boom

Spirit of Boom is also the leading sire of two year-old winners with eight from 16 runners and while we expect to see plenty of his offspring at Magic Millions given he stands in Queensland at Eureka Stud, he does have a solid selection at Inglis Classic with a dozen yearlings catalogued.
