Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

Tara Madgwick - Thursday January 23

Four heats for juveniles at Rosehill this morning and two were won by unraced fillies by champion sire Snitzel and one of them has pedigree that will attract some interest.

Interesting one for the pedigree buffs is the Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou trained filly Feel the Breeze, who mustered speed quickly after jumping on terms to cross and take the lead for Tim Clark. She kept up a good gallop to the line to beat a couple of handy colts in Tropic, who won his only previous trial last year and Comedy, who won his debut race for Godolphin in October.

A $250,000 Magic Millions purchase from Sullivan Bloodstock for Mick Malone Bloodstock, Feel the Breeze is the first foal of Al Naseem, an unraced Hinchinbrook daughter of Group I winner Rewaaya, who is from the Asawir branch of the Easy Date family. What is interesting is that she is by Snitzel from a mare by his three-quarter brother Hinchinbrook- is it a good thing? So far there have been 16 runners that have these two stallions in their pedigree and 11 have won with HK Group I winner Invincible Sage the best of them.

Another Snitzel filly to win was the Chris Waller trained Snitzel Miss, who scored a narrow win over two more very nice fillies in two time Inglis stakes-winner Within the Law and expensive $1.7million I Am Invincible filly Rosie Rouge. The winner improved on her first trial earlier this month, while the runner-up was having a tick over trial into the Inglis Millennium and there was also to like about Rosie Rouge, who showed a lot of natural pace and was well held together.

Snitzel Miss is a three-quarter sister to stakes-placed Flashing Steel from a daughter of Group II winner Military Rose, who is also the grand-dam of Group III winner Espionage.

Godolphin produced a juvenile trifecta at Warwick Farm last month and winning the race was Street Boss (USA) filly Tempted, who looked in good shape at her first trial since then finishing over the top of Lauper with Kerber, the $1.15million sister to In Secret in third place.

It was the second trial for Kerber, who has some expectation on her given her pedigree and the fact her full sister sold for $2.3million at Magic Millions.

Capitalist had the quinella in this hear with the Ed O’Rourke trained filly Red Hot Rosie too good at her first attempt for expensive colt Banknote Hustler. They also ran the quickest tim eof the four 2YO heats.

Red Hot Rosie is bred to get up and going early being from Knockout Girl, a juvenile winning Not a Single Doubt daughter of Trust Antonia (SthAfr), a Group I winning 2YO in South Africa.
