Juvenile Trial Watch -Hawkesbury and Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Monday January 20

There were some interesting trial results on Monday morning at Hawkesbury and Warwick Farm with Farnan colt North England back in action and while the $1million ATC Golden Gift that he won last year is not recognized as a Black Type race he is giving every indication that he can be a stakes-winner in 2025.

With $603,400 in the back already courtesy of his Golden Gift win, North England is the one Waterhouse Bott runner assured of a Golden Slipper start so the stable have the luxury of plotting an easy course to the his grand final at their leisure. He looked in good order at Hawkesbury for this easy trial win under Tim Clark.

Also from the Waterhouse Bott stable, Cool Aza Beel colt Cobra Club was having his first outing following a second to his stablemate Within the Law in the Inglis Nursery last month and also looked sharp and ready to go.

Also in action at Hawkesbury was the Godolphin Bivouac colt Beiwacht, who is on the improve and looks ready to go racing and might be winner number four for his sire.

There were a couple of juvenile heats at Warwick Farm and the winners included the half-brother by Pierata to Golden Slipper winner Fireburn. The Gary Portelli trained colt Kilbrannan was having his third trial and produced his best effort to date to score a long neck win.

Kilbrannan is the third foal of So You Think mare Mull Over, whose first two foals are Champion 2YO Fireburn and Group II Queensland Guineas winner Kintyre, so there is every reason to be optimistic for this one.
