Kia Ora Blueblood Filly Wins at Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 15

She’s a full sister to four time Group I winner and Champion Hong Kong Sprinter 2021/2022 Wellington and is the last foal of her dam, so it’s hardly surprising Kia Ora Stud decided to keep All Too Hard filly Alliri and the three year-old scored her first metro win at Randwick on Wednesday.

Trained by Kris Lees and ridden by Kerrin McEvoy, Alliri broke her maiden last start at Newcastle on Boxing Day after three previous placings and made light work of the Benchmark 64 event over 1100m when kicking clear to win by a length and a half.

Bre by Kia Ora and Steve McCann’s Encompass International, Alliri hasn’t missed a place in five starts earning nearly $90,000 and will no doubt improve with maturity as did her famous older brother Wellington, who won the G1 HK International Sprint as a six year-old.

Alliri is going to be a serious broodmare prospect for the future as she comes from a deep European female family that has produced a long list of Group winners that includes Group I ATC King Charles II Stakes winner Ceolwulf.

Ceolwulf and Alliri share the same third dam Solo de Lune.
