Invincible Mares Fire Up – 51 Yearlings from Vinnie Mares at MM

Tara Madgwick - Sunday December 29

Reigning champion sire I Am Invincible has surged to 104 winners for the season over the Christmas break with those winners including lightly raced mare Fickle, who made it a hat-trick of metro wins at Moonee Valley on Saturday, while two more of his older daughters hit the mark as broodmares producing exciting 2YO’s Gallo Nero and Field of Play.

A change of environment and the benefit of maturity have worked wonders for Fickle, who scored her third consecutive win over 1000m with Craig Williams on board and this time carrying 61.5kg.

A homebred for Yarraman Park and partners, Fickle started her racing career in Sydney with Peter and Paul Snowden, but after two unplaced runs in Sydney in January she was sent to Tom Dabernig in Victoria.

Fickle now has four wins and two seconds from eight starts with prizemoney just shy of $170,000.

She is the first living foal and first winner for Group III winning Hinchinbrook mare Flippant, a three-quarter sister to Group I winner I Am Excited from the family of Group I winners Atlantic Jewel, Commanding Jewel and Russian Emperor.

Flippant has been a profitable producer with Yarraman Park also selling fillies from her for $2million and $750,000, however she has no yearling for the sales in 2025, but has foaled this spring producing a colt by I Am Invincible and is now in foal to Hellbent.

2024 has been a significant year for I Am Invincible as a broodmare sire with his daughters producing Group I winners Kimochi and Asfoora and on Saturday a couple of very exciting youngsters emerged that are also from mares by I Am Invincible.

There are 51 entries for Magic Millions from mares by I Am Invincible and they include the half-sister to Field of Play by Stay Inside to be offered as Lot 241 by Alma Vale Thoroughbreds and also two youngsters by Gallo Nero’s sire Wootton Bassett: Lot 586 from Coolmore, a filly our of Lady Piaf and Lot 641 from Lustre Lodge, a colt out of Mariquita.
