Eagle Farm Track Record Breaker Bred and Sold by Yarramalong Park

Tara Madgwick - Sunday December 29

Tony & Maddysen Sears made the decision to geld slick sprinter Steady Ready earlier this year and the move is paying off with the five year-old son of Better Than Ready breaking the Eagle Farm track record for 1000m on Saturday when winning the Benchmark 90 event.

A stakes-winner of the Listed BRC Lighting Stakes over the  same course back in June, Steady Ready was having his second run back from a spell on Saturday and blew his rivals away to win by two and a half lengths for Cody Collis in a sizzling 55.89 seconds.

Steady Ready has the overall record of five wins and eight placings from 17 starts with prizemoney topping $650,000 and will head to Magic Millions day at the Gold Coast in two weeks in peak form.

A $70,000 purchase for Paul Moroney Bloodstock/Haoh & Co from the Yarramalong Park draft from Book 2 of the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Steady Ready is the best of three winners from as many to race for the Denman mare Our First Lady.

Steady Ready was a $70,000 Magic Millions purchase from Yarramalong Park.

Steady Ready has an intriguing pedigree as Our First Lady is out of a half-sister to the sire sensation More Than Ready, the sire of Better Than Ready.

Our First Lady has been married to Beter Than Ready for seven seasons. She has a two year-old colt purchased by Jack Bruce Racing/Clarke Bloodstock Pty Ltd (FBAA)/High Calibre Racing for $120,000 when consigned by Yarramalong Park to the 2024 Magic Millions.

After missing in 2022 and slipping the next year , Our First Lady had a change of pace and was covered by Better Than Ready’s young sire son Alpine Edge this year.

Yarramalong Park will offer a draft off 22 for Magic Millions, 17 of them by Better Than Ready, click to see them.
