Studs circling Written By

Darryl Sherer - Thursday March 1

A dominant win in the Group I Blue Diamond Stakes has major studs circling Written By.

The unbeaten son of Written Tycoon is bred and raced by Hall Of Fame trainer Neville Begg who confirmed offers are already coming.

"We had an offer from Hong Kong to buy him before his win in the Prelude but we decided to press on to the main race with him which I'm glad we did," Begg said.

"The Hong Kong offer is still there, at a higher price of course, and since Saturday there has been contact from stud farms interested in buying him, some just enquiring but there are some who are very interested and want to pursue him.Written By

"It's a nice position to be in. He was bred to be a racehorse and while I would not say, 'he's not for sale' we are certainly enjoying having him racing for us, that's for sure."

Begg, who trained Dark Eclipse to win the 1980 Golden Slipper Stakes, said no decision has been made on Written By continuing on to the $3.5m Golden Slipper Stakes on March 24.

"I talk to Grahame pretty much every day but I don't like interfering. He knows the ropes and will make the right decision I'm sure," Begg said.

"I was able to watch Written Tycoon at close quarters when Grahame was training him and it's particularly satisfying to be able to breed a good one by him.

"I think there is still some physical improvement to come in Written By so it's reasonable to think he can get better.

"It's certainly an exciting time."
