G2 Winner Brings Magic Update for Yarramalong Park

Tara Madgwick - Saturday December 21

Stakes-placed at three of his past four starts, progressive American Pharoah (USA) gelding In Good Order broke through for his first Black Type win in the Group II WATC Van Heemst Stakes (2100m) at Ascot on Saturday bringing a massive pedigree update for his yearling half brother headed to Magic Millions for Yarramalong Park.

Trained by Dan Morton and ridden by Shaun O’Donnell, In Good Order was not well suited by the WFA conditions, but rose to the challenge to win by a long head in a thrilling finish taking his overall record to five wins and seven placings from 20 starts with prizemoney topping $380,000.

In Good Order was a $140,000 Magic Millions Perth purchase for his trainer from the Amelia Park draft and was pinhooked by them from the Segenhoe draft at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale for $105,000.

Bred by Fairway Thoroughbreds and foaled and raised at Segenhoe, In Good Order is the second winner from Godolphin bred mare Angharad, a winning half-sister by Exceed and Excel to Group I placed Group III winners Sweynesse and Rimraam.

Angharad has changed hands several times, the most recently when bought by Yarramalong Park at the 2023 Inglis Broodmare Sale for $220,000 when in foal to Golden Slipper winner Farnan.

The result of that mating is a flashy chestnut colt that will be offered by Yarramalong Park as Lot 158 at Magic Millions.

Angharad produced a colt this spring by Better Than Ready and is back in foal to him again.

In Good Order is the 55th stakes-winner for Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, who shuttled to Coolmore  Australia for five seasons and has given us a pair of Group I Victoria Derby winners in Goldrush Guru and ill-fated Riff Rocket, who won three G1 races and was last season’s Champion Australian 3YO.
