Blue Point Filly Wins $250,000 Magic Millions Debut

Tara Madgwick - Saturday December 21

A field of 10 unraced two year-olds went around in the $250,000 Magic Millions Debut (1000m) at the Gold Coast on Friday night and Chris and Corey Munce produced the winner with Blue Point (IRE) filly Vein Girl delighting her all women owners with a tenacious victory.

Ridden by Cejay Graham, Vein Girl started favourite and was able to make use of an inside draw to race forward and hold the rail which proved a winning move. She kicked on straightening and had enough left at the finish to win by a long neck over Shamus Award colt Torque to be Sure with nearly two lengths back to third placed Forgotten Spirit.

Vein Girl was a bargain  $60,000 Magic Millions purchase from  the draft of Victorian vendor Three Bridges Thoroughbreds for Munce Racing/Arthur Hoyeau and is bred for speed being the first winner from Last Vein, who is by Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Unencumbered from Champion 2YO Filly Victory Vein.

Vein Girl was a $60,000 Magic Millions purchase.

"It's only my first year as a trainer, so I am absolutely thrilled with tonight, I don't want to be getting ahead of ourselves, so we will enjoy tonight and see where we end up," said co-trainer Corey Munce .

"If we can get to the race on Magic Millions day, it would mean so much to me

"She has always showed us really good speed, so we didn't want to give that up tonight after drawing a good alley.

"She is a very smart horse, we don't think she has to be ridden that way every time either."

Darley shuttler Blue Point has just four yearlings for Magic Millions.
