Juvenile Trial Watch – Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday February 27
Five two year-old heats at Randwick on Tuesday morning were run on heavy ground with the most interesting winner an expensive son of leading two year-old sire Written Tycoon that was the most successful pinhook result at the 2017 Magic Millions.

Shinju was the most successful pinhook at MM 2017A $650,000 Magic Millions purchase for James Harron Bloodstock from the Widden Stud draft, Shinju had one inconclusive trial back in October and was then sent to the paddock by Peter and Paul Snowden.

Having his first outing since then, Shinju was ridden from the gates to take up the lead in the 745 metre scamper and when challenged down the running did enough to keep his nose in front albeit still held together.

Shinju is from Pearl Goddess, an unraced Darci Brahma half-sister to stakes-winner Mini Pearl from the family of Group I winning juvenile Pompeii Pearl.

He was bought as a weanling for just $140,000 at the MM National Weanling Sale from the Noralla Stud draft by UK based syndicating partnership Redwall Bloodstock, who then made a pretty penny when he was re-sold at the Gold Coast in January.

Other two year-old trial winners were: Yellow Furze (The Factor (USA), Californiasurprise (I Am Invincible), Dubai Harbour (Harbour Watch (IRE) and Sneak Preview (Smart Missile). Click here to see all the trial winners.
