One to Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday December 18

Winning a $100,000 Super Maiden on debut at Warwick Farm on a Wednesday is a nice way to kick off your career, especially if you are a well bred filly by The Autumn Sun.

Trained by Annabel Neasham and Rob Archibald, Autumn Dream had four trials under her belt going into her first race day, but with nothing startling to shake out from those appearances punters sent her off at 25-1 with Jason Collett to ride in the 1300m maiden.

Ridden patiently, he allowed her to find her feet and when angled into clear running Autumn Dream was tenacious to the line edging out the favourite Hurry Miss to win by a short half head.

“She’s a relaxed customer at home so you’re never sure what they’ve got and I think she’ll be better over further and probably get out beyond a mile,” said Annabel Neasham.

“It’s a great result for some really good clients in Ladbrokes and Arrowfield Stud, who have entrusted us with a lovely filly.”

Autumn Dream was a $400,000 Inglis Easter purchase.

A $400,000 Inglis Easter purchase for C Bruggeman / Paul Moroney Bloodstock, Autumn Dream runs in the Ladbrokes colours and is the second foal and first winner from Meraki Miss, a winning half-sister by I Am Invincible to Group I winner Samadoubt and to the dam of dual South African Group I winner Linebacker.

Meraki Miss has been married to The Autumn Sun and has a two year-old colt called Mainstay that sold for $350,000 at Inglis Easter this year and she produced another colt by him this spring, but has now had a change of pace and is in foal to Dundeel.
