Group One Goal for Domesday Mare

Media Release - Monday February 26

Aquis Farm’s Domesday is never short of a top-class runner with the Ron Quinton trained mare Daysee Doom staking her claim for the upcoming mares Group I events with a tenacious victory in the Group II ATC Mille Fox Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.

Daysee Doom gave trainer Ron Quinton a memorable 70th birthday present when saluting in the 1300 metre feature by a head with his former apprentice Andrew Adkins on board.

"It’s belated but I don’t think I could have given Ron a better present than getting Daysee home today,” Adkins said.

"It was a huge run,” Adkins said.

"Coming into the race today I wasn’t convinced I’d be on the fittest horse in the race.

"About a furlong out I felt she was coming to the end of her run but she just doesn’t know when she’s beaten. She tries her heart out and has got so much bottom to her.”

Retained to race by her breeders, Daysee Doom has the impressive record of eight wins from 18 starts with prizemoney of $823,575 and will now head to the Group I ATC Coolmore Classic in three weeks time.

She is the only foal from stakes-placed Mister C (USA) mare See a Victory, who comes from the family of stakes-winners Cooldini and Correct Amoondo.

Domesday has been a very popular addition to the Aquis Farm roster in Queensland and covered 141 mares last spring at a fee of $8,800, which was up significantly on the 104 mares he covered the previous year.
