Stakes Win Number 3 for Spirit Of Boom's Golden Boom

Craig Tompson - Saturday December 7

Spirit Of Boom’s remarkably consistent five-year-old Golden Boom banked his third stakes win with a brave effort in the Sky Racing Bribie (LR) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

It had looked a reasonably tough task on Wednesday when acceptances were declared and he drew gate 11 however the pattern of the day came to him with travelling wide having proven no hindrance in the earlier races.

Kyle Wilson-Taylor dealt with it perfectly, being happy to sit wide and focus on a good rhythm and he maintained a determined finish to beat resuming stablemate Zarastro (I Am Invincible) by a head with Hard To Say (Exceed And Excel) third.

The win takes his record to six wins, four seconds, and three thirds in a 16 start career where he has never finished worse than fifth, with earnings of $755,200.

Bred by Asco International, Golden Boom was a $150,000 purchase for Archer Park Racing from the Element Hill draft at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

He is the best of two winners from as many foals left by the Encosta De Lago mare Golden Falls, a sister to South African Group II winner Dane De Lago out of the Listed Reginald Allen Hcp winner The Golden Dane, who was runner-up in the Group 1 ATC Flight Stakes.

Sadly, Golden Falls died in 2020, and Golden Boom is her final foal.

The Spirit Of Boom / Encosta De Lago nick has a record of 23 runners, 18 winners; 2 SW. Click here to see details.
