Blueblood Pierro Filly Wins in Town

Tara Madgwick - Friday December 6

The John O’Shea and Tom Charlton trained Pierro filly Candlewick was a touch of class on show at Randwick on Friday contesting the Benchmark 64 event over 1400m and she duly saluted to make it two wins from three starts.

A debut winner at Wyong last month, she was narrowly beaten at her next start and quickly bounced back to win with a step up in distance. Candlewick led for home with Zac Lloyd in the saddle and kicked clear to win by nearly three lengths in a dominant display.

Candlewick is a homebred for Tyreel Stud and is a half-sister to Everest winner Classique Legend and HK Group II winner Aethero being the fifth winner from five foals to race from top producer Pinocchio, a full sister to Champion Miler and five time Group I winner Racing to Win.

Tyreel Stud have had some sensational sales results with the progeny of Pinocchio selling yearlings from blue-blood mare for $1.1million and $2million, but elected to part company with her earlier this year selling the gorgeous grey for $1.15million at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale to Bromfield Park / Group 1 Bloodstock.

She was in foal to I Am Invincible and produced a filly from that mating on October 28 for her new owners.

Tyreel Stud also still have a yearling filly by I Am Invincible from Pinocchio.
