Vale, Acclamation - Sire of Cox Plate Hero Romantic Warrior

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday December 4

Influential sire Acclamation has died at age 25, only a few weeks after being officially retired from stallion duties at Rathbarry Stud in Ireland.

Rathbarry Stud issued a Tweet - “It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Acclamation this weekend. He leaves behind a legacy as a true legend of the Irish stallion ranks. He will be deeply missed by all at Rathbarry Stud but never forgotten.”

Accalamation has passed away at Rathbarry Stud.

A contemporary of our own mighty sprinter Choisir, he famously split the champion Aussie speedster and Oasis Dream when second in the Group II King’s Stand Stakes in a racing career that yielded several Group and Listed wins before he set off for stud.

Acclamation sired 68 stakes-winners headed by seven Group I winners that include Cox Plate winner Romantic Warrior (IRE), who runs in the Group I Hong Kong International Cup on Sunday and also Dark Angel, who is set to be crowned Champion European Sire for 2024.

Dark Angel has two sons in Australia with Harry Angel (IRE) shuttling to Darley and Top Ranked (IRE) a popular addition at Raheen Stud in Queensland.

Top Ranked (IRE) is a grand-son of Acclamation.
