One Thousand Guineas Goal for Sanadaat

Mark Smith - Sunday August 6

Shadwell Stud's Sanadaat pulled a mild surprise when winning on debut at Morphettville back in February before backing up with a luckless third in the Listed Talindert Stakes at Flemington a fortnight later.

The daughter of Not A Single Doubt made her seasonal debut over 1200 metres at Sandown on Sunday and showed she had not gone backwards with a two and a three- quarter length thumping of Crystal Spirit and Onehundred Percent.

Ridden by Jake Duffy for the Lindsay Park team of David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig, Sanadaat settled outside of the pacesetting Onehundred Percent and was under a double handful coming into the straight.

When the breaks were released she put the race to bed in a matter of strides.

Crystal Spirit (Bel Esprit) came home well without threatening, recording her third consecutive second from as many starts. Onehundred Percent (Hinchinbrook) battled on gamely to be another length back in third.

David Hayes said he has some lofty goals for the 3yo filly beginning with her next start.

"Jake's has been riding her in all her work. He actually won on her in Adelaide and after her trial he begged me to ride her.

"She's a little bit of class I think. I loved the way she let down – 1200 metres first-up a good effort.

"I was reminded of her tale of woe (in the Talindert) watching the replay, it was horrible and she should be undefeated.

"She'll measure up in the top echelon.  She's been plagued by shin-soreness and she's grown out of that. She's still got her winter coat so we mightn't run her for a while and wait for the proper races to come on.

"The 1000 Guineas is her goal – she is classy and we'll be looking at a stakes race at her next run."

The Newhaven Park-bred filly was consigned to the 2016 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale where she was purchased by Shadwell Australasia for $300,000.

From a tried and true Newhaven Park family, Sanadaat (pictured as a yearling ) is the sixth live foal and third winner out of the unraced Real Quiet (USA) mare It's Fun who is a daughter of the dual Listed stakes winner and Group I placed Marauding mare Unison.

Also the dam of the stakes-placed Kidman (Quest For Fame) the dam of stakes winners Zac Spirit and Zac Influence, Unison is out of the Group III Blue Diamond Prelude winner Zedagal a sister to Newhaven Park stalwart Zeditave.

A brother to Sanadaat was sold by Newhaven Park to Aquis/Blue Sky BS (FBAA)/Michael Freedman for $350,000 at this year's Magic Millions.

It's Fun has a yearling filly by Delago Deluxe and was not covered last spring.
