Abounding Strikes in Tattersall's Classic - Half-Brother MM 2025

Mark Smith - Wednesday November 27

The Listed Gold Edition Plate and $3,000,000 Magic Millions 3yo Guineas heroine Abounding returned from a twenty-one-week break to capture Wednesday's Listed Eureka Stud Tattersall's Classic (1200m) at Doomben.

With regular rider Martin Harley in the saddle, The Robert Heathcote-trained daughter of Rich Enuff defeated the 4-year-old Capitalist mare Appin Girl by half a length with the 4-year-old Sidestep mate Party For Two back in third.

Carrying the colours of First Light Racing, Abounding advances her record to five wins, four seconds, and four thirds from 17 starts with earnings of $2,303,750.

"I was surprised at the odds. Didn't they look at the 2.1 lengths behind Bella Nipotina (in the Tatts Tiara), and she went on to win The Everest,” Heathcote said.

“She is a $2.1 million winner, and we actually thought that she had come back better.

“We came here with a high degree of confidence. The barrier was tricky, but they can show that ride at the apprentice school was ten out of ten.

“We are gearing towards the Magic Millions but she is definitely a Sydney autumn or our winter carnival horse.

“She is a real excitement machine- a real athlete. Well done to First Light Racing. They are a tower of strength to my stable.”

Abounding was a $75,000 buy for First Light Racing/Robert Heathcote Racing from the Telemon Thoroughbreds draft from Book 2 of the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

She is the best of four winners from five to race for the 4-time winning Casino Prince mare Transonic, which carried the Patinack colours to a third in the Group II VRC Wakeful Stakes and third in the Listed Ethereal Stakes.

Abounding a $75,000 Magic Millions yearling

Danny O'Brien Racing bought Transonic's Russian Camelot colt for $180,000 at the 2014 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and Noble Bend will consign that colt’s brother to the 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale (lot 1037).

Transonic's dam Jet Past (SAF) (Jet Master) was a 4-time winner and twice Group 1-placed. Her dam, Rather Rich (Star Way), is the daughter of the Group III-winning Sir Tristram mare Touch Of Silver, a half-sister to Petrava, who was honoured as South Africa's Champion 3YO Filly of 1984.

Transonic was covered by Capitalist last spring.

Abounding is one of nine stakes-winners for Woodside Park Stud’s Rich Enuff.
