La Bella Boom on Track for 2yo Classic - Half Brother at MM 2025

Mark Smith - Wednesday November 27

Tony Gollan believes he has a Magic Millions 2yo Classic contender in the Spirit Of Boom filly La Bella Boom, who opened her winning account in Wednesday's Portland Sky First Crop Yearlings @ Widden Hcp (1200m).

Punters wanted just two of the starters, La Bella Boom and Don'tdoubthelady and the pair, and they fought the race out.

Don'tdoubthelady, who had won on debut at Rockhampton, took up the running with La Bella Boom racing fiercely under Angela Jones on her outside.

La Bella Boom put her head in front at the 300m, but Don'tdoubthelady was in for the fight.

The daughter of Spirit Of Boom debuted at Doomben on October 6 with a fighting third, and she still seems to have plenty to learn.

"When she jumped a length in front, I would rather she went on with the job and crossed over. Once she came back, she did not want to settle," Gollan said.

La Bella Boom a $300,000 Magic Millions yearling

"She had been four and a half weeks between runs, and I did not have the smoothest time as she had an eye ulcer and I could not do a lot with her for two weeks.

"She did a good job as she came here a bit soft, but I was nervous early on when she was racing so fiercely.

"There is not doubt she is Magic Millions quality."

La Bella Boom was a $200,000 purchase for Alice Berry at the 2023 Magic Millions Strawberry Hill Stud Unreserved Dispersal before Gollan Racing/John Foote Bloodstock (FBAA)/Blacksoil Bloodstock shelled out $300,000 to secure her from the Sledmere Stud draft at the 2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

La Girl

Yulong purchased La Bella Boom's dam La Girl for $320,000 at the Strawberry Hill dispersal.

Yulong will offer the St Mark's Basilica (FR) colt she was carrying at the 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale (lot 576).

The winning daughter of Not A Single Doubt is a half-sister to the dam of the Group II WRC Wakefield Challenge Stakes winner Captured By Love (Written Tycoon), who placed in the Group 1 Sistema Stakes and Group 1 Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes.

La Girl foaled a Diatonic (JPN) filly on August 7.

La Bella Boom is the fourth 2-year-old winner of the season for Eureka Stud's Spirit Of Boom.
