Sanadaat to be aimed at better races

Darryl Sherer - Sunday August 6

Lindsay Park Racing will aim Sanadaat at better company following her comfortable win in Sunday's Jim Conway Handicap (1200m) on the Lakeside course at Sandown.

Racing for the first time since finishing an unlucky third in the Listed Talindert Stakes at Flemington in February, Sanadaat broke smartly and Jake Duffy stalked the leader Onehundred Percent to the home turn where he allowed Sanadaat to draw alongside.

Allowed to go on 200m out, Sanadaat ($2.80 fav) quickened clear without any pressure and came away to defeat Crystal Spirit ($6.50) by 2 3/4-lengths with Onehundred Percent ($4) holding on for third, one length away.

"To win like that over 1200m first-up, it was a good effort," Hayes, who trains Sanadaat in partnership with son Ben and Tom Dabernig, said.

"It was a good ride by Jake too - he was riding a lot of winners for us in Adelaide before he broke his arm so it's good to see him back."

Despite the ease of the win Hayes said he would adopt a patient approach with the daughter of Not A Single Doubt.

"She's been plagued with shin soreness and she's still got a winter coat so we might not run her for a little while and wait until the better races come along," Hayes said.

"She probably should be unbeaten really and she should be in the top echelon. She's a little bit of class I think - a race like the Thousand Guineas will suit her."

Duffy won on Sanadaat at her first start at Morphettville and said the win was a easy as it looked.

"She's got a really good attitude and that wasn't really her go, she's better ridden with a sit but in the small field we didn't have much option," Duffy said.

"I rode her like she was the best horse in the race and she raced that way."
