Dundeel Filly Breaks Maiden in G3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes

Originally a first emergency, Dundeel filly Jasmin Rouge secured a start and was sent out a long shot for the $200,000 Group III MRC Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Saturday and charged home to score a surprise win.

Given a patient ride by Ben Melham, the Clinton McDonald trained filly improved sharply on her debut third at Bendigo last month unleashing a big finish to snatch a neck win at her second start.

Ben Melham believes there is a lot of upside for Jasmin Rouge after landing a stakes win at her second start.

Jasmin Rouge was a $70,000 Inglis Premier purchase from Segenhoe Stud for Clinton McDonald Racing and was also bred by Segenhoe. She is the third winner and first stakes-winner from Group III placed Snitzel mare Sweetener, a three-quarter sister to Group I winner Secret Agenda and Group I placed Tutta La Vita, who was for $3.2million at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale this year to Resolute Racing and exported to the US.

Jasmine Rouge was bred and sold by Segenhoe fetching $70,000 at Inglis Premier.

Sweetener is also a sibling to the dam of Group winning filly Enthaar, so it’s a good family for fillies with third dam Eurphoria a Group I winner.

Sweetener has a yearling filly by So You Think tthat has been entered for MM 2025 and has foaled this spring producing a colt by Capitalist.

Jasmin Rouge is the 33rd stakes-winner for Dundeel and is bred on the same cross as his dual Group I winner Celestial Legend, who is also from a daughter of Snitzel.
