Dual G1 Winner Magic Time Purchased by Yulong

Tara Madgwick - Friday November 8

The Grahame Begg trained Hellbent mare Magic Time will run in new colours on Saturday in the $500,000 Group II ATC Hot Danish Stakes (1400m) with breaking news on Friday confirming her sale to Yulong.

A two time Group I winner of $2.6million, Magic Time comes into the race off a last start second to Belclare in the $2million ATC The Invitation and will again take on that rival with the talented duo currently at the head of betting.

Magic Time was retained to race by her breeder John Muir of Milburn Creek Stud and is a half-sister to this season’s Group I placed three year-old colt Henlein.

Magic Time and Henlein are from Group III winning Nicconi mare Time Awaits, who has had three foals to race and all are winners. Her two year-old colt by Maurice (Jpn) has also been retained and named Maketime with Tony and Calvin McEvoy to train.

Time Awaits has proven to be an astute purchase for Milburn Creek, sourced for them by Belmont Bloodstock for $300,000 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in 2018 with Magic Time her very first foal.

She has foaled this spring producing a colt by champion sire I Am Invincible that is a three-quarter brother to Magic Time.

Magic Time is not the only runner in the race for Yulong with the Group I New Zealand Oaks winner Pulchitrudinous also engaged and having her first run back from a spell for the Waterhouse Bott stable.
