Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Three heats for juveniles run at Warwick Farm on Friday morning featured an $825,000 I Am Invincible filly and two youngsters that have won previously including a colt that bolted in by 14 lengths!

Trained by Bjorn Baker, well related Capitalist colt Hayek won his first trial last Friday, but was inclined to get his head up and go hard and he did that again with Rachel King in the saddle and ran more than a second quicker than the two other heats with second place filled by Zousain colt Buckeye, a full brother to Amelita, who won the Group III VRC Red Roses Stakes at Flemington on Thursday. Third was Godolphin’s Street Boss (USA) colt Green Spaces, a three-quarter brother to dual G1 winner and $5.8million earner Trekking.

A $300,000 Magic Millions purchase from Bhima Thoroughbreds for Bjorn Baker Racing/Clarke Bloodstock Pty Ltd , Hayek is a half-brother to dual Group I winner Stratum Star, Group III winner Prague, Group placed Serenade and to the dam of this season’s Group placed filly Declichy Boulevard.

The Matthew Dale trained Spirit of Boom colt Bombay Boom made it two trial wins in as many starts with another click and professional effort to lead and win by a length and three-quarters.

Bombay Boom was a $130,000 Magic Millions Book 2 purchase for Kurrinda Bloodstock/M J Dale Racing from the Eureka Stud draft and is the tenth living foal of Group III winning Zabeel mare Steflara, who was 22 when he was born.

Steflara has had six to race all winners and her first foal, the Group III placed Redoute’s Choice mare Glissade has achieved fame and fortune as the dam of Group I MRC Thousand Guineas winner Flit and grand-dam of triple Group I winning colt Broadsiding, who runs in the G1 VRC Champions Mile on Saturday.

Steflara produced a filly last spring by Encryption and has now been retired from stud duties.

Ciaron Maher unleashed a nice looking daughter of I Am Invincible for the first time and Life After Love had a good experience tracking the leader and then surging to the line for Jason Collett to in her heat by the best part of a length.

Bred by Rifa Mustang, Life After Love made $825,000 for Sledmere Stud at Magic Millions and is the second foal stakes-placed Not a Single Doubt mare Lady Loire, who traces back to the family of Champion 3YO Filly Triscay.
