Greg Polson - Sunday August 6

Since January 1 2013, favourites launching from the inside barrier over the 1000m journey at Muswellbrook have a superb winning record and the hot run looks set to continue Sunday.

There have been 18 favourites jump from the inside gate during the tested period and 13 have returned to the winner's stall at a winning strike rate of 72.2 percent and a 57.2 percent profit on turnover.

Even with the statistics clearly leaning to favourites in barrier one over the trip the horse in question still has to have the credentials to win and that is the case with the Phillip Atkins-trained Musical Query who will be chasing her fourth career wins from seven starts in the Peel Valley Machinery Benchmark 66 Handicap (1000m).

A daughter of Star Witness, Musical Query is chasing back to back wins after overcoming a double-figure barrier to win a class three at Taree on July 21 racing on the speed carrying 56kg.

Musical Query looks well treated with only a half kilo more taking on benchmark company after the claim for apprentice Mikayla Weir who was successful on the mare at Taree.

Musical Query has the early speed to take advantage of the inside gate and at $3.60 in early betting looks terrific value with the stats in her favour and the race form to match.
