Paul Joice’s top three to follow from Randwick Saturday July 22

Paul Joice - Monday July 24

Two well supported runners were luckless at Randwick on Saturday whilst my other horse to follow is a money-making machine.

BOLERO KING
This race profiled well for Clarry Conners' four-year-old but when Taillevent over-reacted to wearing the blinkers first time – the perfect plan was foiled. Much more pace was injected into the race so Kerrin McEvoy took the right option and found a trail aboard the speedy Bolero King. Coming to the turn McEvoy appeared to have plenty of horse underneath him, but the leaders came back quickly and he found himself locked-up for most of the straight. Got a split at the 100m mark but the bird had well and truly flown by then. I want to see this horse on pace around Rosehill.
Career record (8:3-1-1).
Race to look for – Benchmark 81 (1100m-1200m)

STEYNE
Kerrin McEvoy suffered a similar fate aboard Peter and Paul Snowden's Steyne as he did 40 minutes earlier aboard Bolero King. Appeared to make all the right decisions early in the race but once again the gaps closed and he was locked-up for the business end of the home straight. Finally got out inside the final 100m but once again, the race was all over by then. Worth another chance.
Career record (7:4-1-0).
Race to look for – Benchmark 85 (1500m-1600m).

PELETHRONIUS
Remains under-estimated despite winning four from four this preparation and bumping his overall win strike-rate above 50 percent. Settled back for Tye Angland, was travelling sweetly on the turn and once given clear air powered over top of his rivals. Continues to improve and has won on going ranging from a heavy 10 to a good 4. Big tracks seem to be his forte and big fields with a bit of pressure up front also suit his racing style. Stick with him – he's an equine ATM.
Career record (13:7-0-1).
Race to look for – Open Handicap (1500-1600m).
