Rich Dottie Looks Promising

Mark Smith - Friday October 25

A field of promising three-year-olds contested Friday night's Broadside Lawyers (Bm70) over 1000m at Moonee Valley, and Rich Dottie saw them off in some style.

Ridden by Michael Dee for Grahame Begg, the stylish daughter of Written Tycoon sat on the speed set by Jett Stanley on Overfull. Striking the front at the 200m, Rich Dottie defeated Overfull (Overshare) by one and a half lengths, with Force Red (Cosmic Force) a half-neck back in third.

Rich Dottie made a winning debut at Caulfield on April 17 before failing to flatter when unplaced in the Group II Spirit Of Boom Classic at Doomben on May 18, which stable representative Rohan Hughes put down to the soft track.

"We were very, very happy with her coming here," Hughes said.

"Her work has been super, jumpouts even better. She was super first up in her first preparation. Nice track today with a good draw, so we came in very confident.

"She'd never really been exposed to it (at Doomben) under race day conditions. She was gone long way from home. She had a nice break up there.

"It was a good ride. The draw does a lot for you, but at the same time, it was a race that had a lot of pressure in it, and we thought we could be a little bit further back, but he (Dee) made a good executive decision and was very positive throughout. She was strong for the line first up, has got nice improvement, so we're in for a really good preparation.

"There's potentially a couple of nice black-type races during the Caulfield Carnival. There's also one or two little options during Cup week. Grahame will get her home, see how she pulls up from this, but very nice filly, and will certainly get to a good level."

Rich Dottie a $260,000 Inglis Easter yearling

A $260,000 purchase for Yu Long Investments from the Evergreen Stud Farm draft at the 2023 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Rich Dottie was among eleven Written Tycoon yearlings purchased by Yulong at the sale.

The stylish chestnut filly is the first foal of the winning Redoute's Choice mare Dorothy Of Oz.

A winner at Warwick Farm and Hawkesbury in 13 starts, Dorothy Of Oz is a sister to the Thewizardofoz, A Group III winner in Hong Kong, where he was the Champion Griffin in 2014-15, and a half-sister to dual Group III winner and multiple Group II-placed Argentia (Frankel).

A daughter of the 4-time Group 1 winner Princess Coup (Encosta de Lago), Dorothy Of Oz has a yearling Frankel (GB) filly and foaled a filly by Zoustar on August 11.
