Interstate Double for Written Tycoon

Mark Smith - Saturday August 5

Trainer Kelly Schweida executed a successful hit and run mission to Sydney with Written Tycoon gelding Shogun Sun in Saturday's walking2help,com, au Sprint at Randwick.

Jockey Christian Reith took a needle-eye opening between Addictive Nature and Solar Patch on the $20 outsider whose only previous win in five starts came at Eagle Farm back in March.

"We didn't go overly quick and he just needed a split, and he took a bit to get through to build his confidence but once he got through, he really impressed me," Reith told AAP.

The race was a test for the Group One Golden Rose (1400m) on September 23.

An $80,000 purchase y his trainer from the Baystone Farm draft at the 2016 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Shogun Sun advances his record to two wins and two seconds from six starts with earnings of $89,600.

He is the fourth foal and third winner out of the unraced Belong To Me mare Lady Somers who is a half-sister to Listed stakes winner Ishiabeel (Ishiguru) and Video Star (Quest For Fame) out of the stakes-placed Zabeel mare Danceabeel.

It's the family of the slick sprinter Tramuntana (Singspiel).

Lady Somers has not had a live foal since Shogun Sun. She missed to Fiorente (IRE) in 2015 and was covered by the Melbourne Cup winner again last spring.

Not long after Shogun Sun won at Randwick, Written Tycoon was in the thick of things again when his 3yo son Wallace Street made an explosive career debut in the Ken Bock Maiden Plate at Morphettville Parks.

No shock for punters here. The Richard Jolly trained gelding was backed off the map and won accordingly.

Ridden by Jake Toeroek, Wallace Street (pictured as a yearling) was never headed in a bloodless three and a quarter lengths win over Mighty Mick (Hussonet) with Port Vale (Master Of Design) three-quarter of a length back in third.

A brother to the stakes-placed Written Consent, Wallace Street was purchased by his trainer for $60,000 out of the Woodside Park draft at the 2016 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

He is the eighth foal of the winning Octagonal mare Hill Street Blues a daughter of the Group I Blue Diamond Stakes runner-up Danari (Danehill).
