Interstate Stakes Double for Pariah

Mark Smith - Saturday October 19

It proved a red-letter day for Oaklands Stud’s Pariah, as Lady In Pink opened her stakes account in the Group II  Sharp Eit Solutions Tristarc Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield, while Ostraka solidified his chance in the $10 million Golden Eagle with an impressive win in the $1,000,000 Group III Silver Eagle (1400m) at Randwick.

Ridden by Ben Allen for Leon and Troy Corstens and Wll Larkin, Lady In Pink was tenacious in defeating Revolutionary Miss (Russian Revolution) by a half-length, with Miss Aria three-quarters of a length back in third.

With her maiden stakes success, Lady In Pink advances her record to five wins, two seconds, and two thirds with earnings of $492,410.

"She has a tremendous amount of talent. We backed off her, stopped, and then I thought we need to get her into the spring," Troy Corstens said.

"I honestly thought the 1400m was going to be a little bit too short for her again today, but we had her nice and fresh.

"I think we're going to have a crack at the Empire Rose. She's continued to improve, and I wanted to see her do something like this today before we set that in motion. And now that she's done that, I think we're going to have a crack."

A $160,000 purchase for Malua Bloodstock - Pink Race Series Horse Syndicate, from the Arrowfield Stud draft at the 2022 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Lady In Pink is the best of three winners from as many runners for the stakes-placed Encosta de Lago mare, Iron Lane.

Bought by Claremont Thoroughbreds off Arrowfield Stud for $17,000 on Inglis Digital in 2022, Iron Lace has a 2-year-old colt by  Castelvecchio who was a $30,000 buy for C Wightman / Kevin Dagg Bloodstock / GB Bloodstock at the 2024 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

Iron Lace foaled a colt by the Domesday stallion Royal Symphony on October 1.

Iron Pink credited Pariah with his fourth stakes-winner, and his proven stakes performer. Ostraka provided the son of Redoute's Choice with the day's second stakes-winner.

Ridden by Blake Shinn for Annabel Neasham and Rob Archibald, Ostraka led turning for home in the Silver Eagle, keeping up a strong gallop to defeat Xidaki by a half-length, with War Machine a long head back in third.

The Listed Queensland Day Stakes winner at Eagle Farm in June, Ostraka advances his record to five wins, two seconds, and two thirds with earnings of $1,000,700.

"Full credit to Blake. He came out with a plan that if we want to win the race, we're going to have to go forward', and that's what he did," Archibald said.

"He relaxed beautifully in front and full credit to the horse. He's able to do it off-speed. Last start he did it on-speed, so he's a really progressive horse, he keeps stepping up every time.

There is possibly a little query about over 1500m (Golden Eagle), but he's won over 1400 before, so I think with the prize money on offer, we'll certainly give him that opportunity.

"He's just really going well, heading in the right direction. I couldn't be happier with him."

A $150,000 buy for Annabel Neasham Racing / B McGuire / Stallion Match / Mitchell Bloodstock (FBAA) from the Arrowfield stud draft at the 2022 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Ostraka is one of four stakes performers for the unraced War Emblem mare Madame Andree (USA), led by Widden Stud's Group III ATC San Domenico Stakes winner Anders (Not A Single Doubt), and the stakes-placegetters Satin Love (Snitzel) and Battleground (Snitzel).

Ottavio Galletta's Galletta Constructions purchased a Snitzel filly from Madame Andree (USA) out of the Arrowfield Stud draft for $400,000 at the 2024 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Snitzel covered Madame Andree again last spring and foaled a filly on September 15.

After five seasons at Arrowfield Stud, Pariah relocated to Neville Stewart's Oaklands Stud, where he stands for $6,600.
