Third Time Lucky for Far Too Easy in the Kosciuszko

Mark Smith - Saturday October 19

The admirably consistent All Too Hard gelding Far Too Easy, scaled new heights with an emotial success in Saturday’s $2,000,000 The Kosciuszko at Randwick.

Third behind Front Page in the race twelve months ago after finishing second to the flying son of Magnus in 2022, the David McColm-trained 6-year-old had the dual Kosciuszko winner in his site on straightening.

Given a pearler by Craig Williams,  Far Too Easy defeated the brave Front Page (Magnus) by two and a quarter lengths with Tanglewood (Smart Missile) three-quarters of a length back in third.

Far Too Easy advances his record to nine wins, four seconds, and a third from 22 starts with earnings of $2,342,925.

David McColm recounted he was resigned to losing Far Too Easy when he was seriously ill.

“My dream has come true and not just for us, for this horse. He's been such a special animal to all of us and he deserves his name in the Kosciuszko record books,” McColm said.

“He was very ill, he was. It was dire for about three days. “My vet put in many, many hours; he would turn up at midnight. The whole ordeal was terrible, but he's such a fighter.

“All credit to Craig; he jumped on a plane and flew up from Melbourne as he wanted to see what he was like in the barriers, and it paid dividends today.

“Front Page is such an amazing horse, but I thought we could run him down.

“We've met him three times now and he's beaten us twice.

I think we're going to block the main street off and we’ll have a few beers out there.”

Tresbland Pty Ltd had the final say at $45,000 for the son of All Too Hard from the Baramul Stud draft in Book 2 of the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

A brother to the Singapore Derby, L, Singapore Queen Elizabeth II Cup winner Hard To Think, the Champion 4YO in Singapore in 2021, Far Too Easy is one of four winners from as many to race for the unraced Hussonet mare Mnemonic.

In November, Woburn Farm consigns a brother to Far Too Easy to the NZB Ready To Run Sale at Karaka after pinhooking for $250,000 out of the Baramul Stud draft at the Magic Millions.

Mnemonic has a yearling sister to Far Too Easy and was covered by Zoustar last spring.

All Too Hard stands at Vinery Stud for $38,500.
